What are Matrilineal Trees?

Matrilineal Trees are trees that are tracked through maternal ancestors.

Most family trees focus on following the Patrilineal line. It is useful and interesting to see where your surname came from and is easy to track from father to father.

When one begins to track the matrilineal line, research becomes more complicated and convoluted. The matrilineal line can blossom into infinite ancestors. It is more intensive to include matrilenal lines within genealogy, but those are important in determining exactly where you came from as well.
